The New Approaches to International Area and Global Studies Grant supports projects that develop area and global thematic approaches in teaching, research, and/or public engagement. These grants are developmental opportunities that can expand the scope of area and global studies at the University of Illinois. Outcomes from New Approaches projects might include new or expanded curricula, an Investment for Growth proposal, expansion of the capacity or scope of one of the Illinois Global Institute centers or programs, grant proposals for further research or instruction, study abroad or student exchange activities to build engagement with a world region, or faculty recruitment through approaches such as cluster hire initiatives.
