This course examines the fundamentals of economic development in Africa. It will provide students the tools and concepts to think about development in a way that is consistent with economic theory, informed by empirical research, and practically connected to policy. We will discuss issues that the region faces related to economic growth, poverty, population, health, education, gender, agriculture, and climate change.
