CLACS Associate Director awarded college sponsored honor

Kasia Szremski, associate director for Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies, was selected by the Liberal Arts and Sciences award committee for the LAS Academic Professional Award. The award, along with the other staff awards, will be presented by Venetria K. Patton, the Harry E. Preble Dean of the College of LAS, at the awards ceremony scheduled in March.

Szremski has served as the Associate Director for the Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies since 2016. As Associate Director, she oversees the Centers academic and public outreach programing and teaches Introduction to Latin American Studies (Summer) and Archaeology Field School in Peru (Summer). She holds a Ph.D. in anthropology and has an ongoing research project in Peru focused on Chancay archaeology. Szremski also has played a crucial role in the development of the Illinois Global Institute, where she is admired for going beyond her job description to ensure the success of her coworkers and the programs she works for.
