Biography
An associate professor of Sociology, focused on community development, settler colonialism and resistance, and food and water justice. Recent research addresses comparative environmental equity in access to water and sanitation including comparative work among communities in the United States, Palestine, and a case study in Tanzania. As a teacher of social movements and community development, I engage students with local community based advocacy organizations. My own community engagement has involved work on food justice with East(side) Lansing Food Coop, community nonviolence with Meta Peace Team, the Poor People's Campaign on and others to move toward justice and away from militarization.
