Every two years, current University of Illinois students and recent alumni are invited to Illinois Global Institute Career Day, an in-person event focusing on using foreign language, area studies, and thematic studies in the job market. Attendees learn how to identify and better communicate their skills as well as hearing professors, professionals, and practitioners discuss their current positions and paths from college study to employment. They have opportunities to connect with alumni through informational interviews and engage with peers, colleagues, alumni, and staff at the networking reception.

Career Day has hosted attendees from diverse departments, including Accountancy, CAS, EALC, Economics, EPOL, EUC, Extension/CIMED, Global Studies, ISSS, Kinesiology, Informatics, Linguistics, LIS, Literature, Music, Political Science, REEEC, Slavic Languages & Literatures, and Spanish & Portuguese.

On the exit survey, one respondent wrote,

"I'm really glad that I attended! I wasn't sure what to expect but was inspired by several speakers about career paths to look into and met some fellow grad students also exploring different career paths!"

Another commented,

"I thought it was great and gave me a lot of good food for thought and people/centers to connect with - Thank you!"
