International Education Week

On November 8, students, faculty, and staff were treated to free international musical performances as part of International Education Week.

Artists included the Brazilian Jazz Ensemble, led by Goio Lima; Turkish musician Çağrı Haksöz (Ashik Delili) playing the baglama, a string instrument used in traditional folk music; the Latin American Ensemble; and SPICMACAY, the Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth.

The event was hosted by the Center for African Studies, Center for East Asian & Pacific Studies, Center for Global Studies, Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies, Center for South Asian & Middle Eastern Studies, European Union Center, LAS Global Studies, Lemann Center for Brazilian Studies, Program in Arms Control & Domestic & International Security, Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center, and Women & Gender in Global Perspectives Program.

Other events scheduled to take place were Latin American Story Time: “ABC El Salvador,” Diwali on the Quad, and another performance by the Latin American Ensemble called ¡Fiesta y canción!
