Joe Bartzel (PhD, religious studies, Indiana University) is a postdoctoral fellow in American culture studies at Washington University in St. Louis. A St. Louis native, Joe’s current project, Gateway to Reconciliation, is supported by the Social Science Research Council’s Religion, Spirituality and Democratic Renewal Fellowship. His doctoral work was supported by a Forum for Theological Exploration fellowship, a research fellowship from the Politics of Religion At Home and Abroad project, and a Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship. Joe was previously a visiting research fellow at the John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics at Washington University.
